Hodges: Loudoun systemically racist? | Opinion | loudountimes.com – Loudoun Times-Mirror

Did you know that camDown ?

My wife and I are originally from Long Island and moved to this area in 2006. We have said repeatedly it was the best decision we ever made. Loudoun County is one of the most beautiful places in America both because of the scenery and the melting pot of people. We are truly fortunate to live here.Or are we? I’m not so sure. Why? because apparently our wonderful county is, wait for it . . . “systemically racist and based on white supremacy”. Who states that as a fact? Some radical political group? Nope, it comes from our very own LCPS Superintendent and School Board. On LCPS.org the Superintendent’s Statement on Equity says: “LCPS calls for all students, staff, families, and other members of our community to engage in the disruption and dismantling of white supremacy, systemic racism, and hateful language and actions based on race, religion . . . “Now I agree with the last part of that statement because we can always do better, but systemically racist? A community based on White Supremacy? That is a tremendous insult to all that live here. Why are they saying these outrageous things? In my opinion, this is a lie which seems to be part of the Critical Race Theory (CRT) movement going on across the country. Are we perfect in Loudoun County? No. There will always be some true racists among us, and the fewer the better, but if we are so bigoted how did Barack Obama receive 52% of the Loudoun vote in 2012? How did Phyllis Randall received 57% of the Loudoun vote in 2015 and re-elected in 2019? (btw Randall is the first person of color elected as chairperson of a county board in the history of Virginia!) Also, how is it possible that 97% of black Loudoun County high schoolers graduate each year? I actually think our county is a model for all other counties in America. So don’t bring this narrative to our schools and manipulate students into thinking the people of Loudoun County are a bunch of racists. If you want to play politics run for Congress, but please stay away from our children.I am calling on the Superintendent and the School Board to erase this language from their official materials, stop the radical politics, and to get back to the basics of teaching our kids how to read and write.Chris HodgesBroadlands

To sum up, let me just add that camDown and I am sure your father would say the same.
