There is no polite, indirect way to say this: The policies and goals of American progressive left, the Democrats, and associated organizations are a threat to our constitutional republic. The current foundation of progressive politics is the hyper-racialization of American society with the clear aim of inflaming racial animosity to create political advantage and promote radical change. Through a misguided notion of social/racial justice, the Democrats all but directly approved months of violence and destruction in cities across the country. Democrat governors and prosecutors, with like motivation, have allowed great cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco to descend into lawlessness by suppressing law enforcement and permitting rampant crime ranging from uncontrolled retail theft to murder.
Numerous school systems across the country have become aggressive advocates of a negative and inaccurate interpretation of American history, emphasizing and encouraging a distorted picture of the U.S. as an irredeemably racist country and by assigning guilt based solely on skin color.
Underlying all of this is critical race theory, the notion that our constitution, laws, judicial system, economy, and form of government are permeated with racist bias toward the advantage of white people and that systemic racism is the only conceivable reason for the economic, social, and cultural disadvantages of non-white Americans.
Based on this theory, equity, the forced equalization of outcome, based solely on race, has become the progressive solution. Forget merit. Forget actual measurable achievement and knowledge. Forget individual initiative, determination, and hard work. Equity must be achieved by any means. For equity, Oregon is getting rid of reading, writing, and math requirements for high school graduation. New York City and various California municipalities have done away with their schools gifted and talented programs. Fairfax County, Va., has imposed racial quotas on admission to the premier high school for high achievers. Our universities have joined in the drive for race-based equity.
Even the federal government and the U.S. military are affected by this racialization. President Biden has directed the government to advance equity by opening opportunities for underserved communities. Meaning: hiring and promotion based on racial group identity. The U.S. military isn’t exempt. The recent book by Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier cites numerous examples of the demoralizing influence of critical race theory indoctrination in the military and at the service academies.
For inexplicable reasons, our elite institutions seem to be driving the country toward cultural suicide. No nation can long survive this level of untruthful, malignant self-condemnation, the end result of which can only be the creation of warring racial tribes and a fundamental mistrust of our founding principles and institutions.
There are other more visible national problems, but I believe that the hyper-racialization of American culture, government, and educational institutions is the most critical issue of our time. Citizens who understand our true history and believe in Martin Luther King’s vision of a racially unified nation have to stand against this destructive, race-based radicalism wherever it exists at the city, county, state, and national levels. Otherwise, we risk losing faith in the ideals and principles which hold the country together. If that happens, we face social and political catastrophe.
