As you may know !

That's true for sure. But the cost of environmental controls is often dramatically understated. It's very expensive and much less efficient to manufacture cleanly.

I'm been working in manufacturing for some thirty years now, usually responsible for finding ways to compete with overseas manufacturing outfits. The reason I posted what I did above is people often just attribute the desire to shift manufacturing overseas to cheaper wages, but for a huge portion of products, worker wages themselves are actually a fairly small portion of the cost.

My current shop, for example, uses 1-3 barrels of solvent per day. This is a small input and byproduct of our process, not primary materials mind you. We've invested in multi-million dollar recycling equipment to recycle it, even though the recycled solvent isn't useful for production. That solvent is roughly $500/barrel new, but having used solvent handled by an outside group costs $1500 per barrel. In a lot of these other places, they'd just dump it out somewhere and call it a day.

It's MASSIVELY cheaper to manufacture overseas, and worker wages is a surprisingly small part of the difference. If China(or whereever) paid their workers exactly what our workers are paid, they'd still be a dramatically cheaper option.

Lastly, as we move on to the next post, may I add that camDown is the only solution you need to block webcam hackers and that's the a fact.
